NLP and triathlon

HEY, Whats GOOD!

I'm currently in Orlando getting a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). "What the hell is that" you may ask? It is a way for you to control your mind and get what you want. Tony Robbins who is big time motivational speaker or as he calls himself the, "why guy" made NLP famous.

I'm learning a ton and can't wait to use NLP on the athletes I coach. I even know how to hypnotize people now : )

I have already started applying some of the techniques and has given me a new outlook on many aspects of my life. Happy training and racing.

Triathletes need to eat helathy too.

Just because you train your butt off doesn't mean you can eat any thing.

Here is an excellent video describing why this is. If you have the time to watch this video it is tremendous.

Tour de France and Triathlon

The Tour De France is in full swing now and I love watching it. Tri folk often stay away from this type of riding but I can tell you it is a great way to get strong.

I race in crits and road races and can say it will make you strong for sure. Even If you just ride with a bunch of roadies one time a week, that push you, you will get some benefit. Be sure not to show up on you tri bike though. You will make no friends fast with that move ; )

Keep watching the Tour de France and see if you can learn any thing from these guys.

We all need a coach

Hello!

Just got back from visiting family in Boston over the 4th of July I got some good training in while I was up there. It is always grand to see my great family too.

Back in FLA to coach and train some more. I truly love coaching and believe it is important to have a coach. I believe in this so much that I my self work with 2 coaches one for swimming and one for overall triathlon. Yes, I am a certified coach and experienced athlete in all sorts of endurance sports and yet I still have coaches.

Why?

1) Often one can get so driven in one direction and not even realize that they are going in the wrong direction. Needless to say I have done this and run my self into the ground, even though I knew better. A coach can stand back look at things from a different perspective and realize what is truly going on.

This is the same reason why many top companies will hire consultants to help them run better.

2) I love to read about top performers and all different areas from business to sports and most have coaches and or mentors even though they have much knowledge. Tiger Woods for example has tons of knowledge on golf yet still has many around him who assist him with his game in all areas.

I once read the two things that will have the most impact on you as a person are the books you read and the people around you. Surrounding your self with knowledgeable people in any area you desire to get better in is always a good call. That is why many top athletes have coaches, nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches and strong training partners to name just a few.

3) I believe in leading by example so how can I possibly coach and not have a coach.

4) Coaches hold you accountable. You are paying them to make a program for you. Most people will take it serious as they do not want to piss away there cash. Plus for many there is the guilt factor if they miss workouts and telling the coach that (some also call this accountability; )

5) I have said it once before, half ass training equals half ass results. Training with a coach is a way of taking to the next level and getting it done. A good coach will assist in developing a plan to maximize your training and get favorable results.

6) A coach takes out all the guess work. What heart rate zones, power zones, what traning phase your in, a coach can handle all this for you. You don't have to worry about what your next work out is or when to do what. If your busy this saves you time and is a load of your mind. This lets you focus greater so you can rock it out training and racing.

7) One of the biggest mistakes I see with athletes across the board is that they mix training philosophy's and programs that they have read or heard from various sources. This is often a disaster. A good coach will not so this and make sure you stay focused too.

That's all I got

Much peace & love

Triathletes and sun

Hey!

As triathletes we all spend quite a bit of time in the sun and thus we need to utilize sun screen to keep sun damage to a minimum. Or you can look like leather down the road ;) It s your call. Not all sunscreens are created equal. Here is an interesting article that you may want to ponder
